#Circumcision – possible protective benefit against #prostatecancer

A recent article from Canadian researchers shows that circumcision may provide a protective benefit against prostate cancer development among those circumcised at age 36 years or older as well as among black men.

Overall, circumcised men had a non-significant 11% decreased risk of prostate cancer.  Among black men, (who have the highest rates of prostate cancer), circumcision was associated with a significant 60% reduction in prostate cancer risk.  Other groups including Caucasian, and Asian men did not show a reduction in prostate cancer risk.

Also men 36 years or older had a significant 45% reduction in prostate cancer risk compared with uncircumcised men.  Men circumcised within the first year after birth showed a 14% reduction in prostate cancer risk. Circumcision-ProstateCancer
